Local Mind: AI Browsing Memory
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Local Mind is designed around one core principle: everything stays on your device. This extension does not operate a server, does not transmit your browsing data anywhere, and does not use analytics or tracking.
What data is collected
When you stay on a webpage for more than 10 seconds, the extension reads that page's title, URL, and visible text content. This is processed entirely on your own computer to generate a numerical representation (a "vector embedding") of the page's meaning, using an AI model that runs locally in your browser.
The following is saved to your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only:
- Page title
- Page URL
- A short text snippet from the page
- The AI-generated embedding (a list of numbers)
- The time the page was saved
Certain pages are automatically excluded and never scraped, including search engine results pages, Gmail, Outlook, and YouTube. Insecure (http://) pages are excluded entirely, and the extension does not run in Incognito windows.
Where this data goes
Nowhere but your own device. Specifically:
- Browsing data is not sent to Anthropic, Google, Hugging Face, or any other third party.
- No account, sign-in, or personal identifier is required or collected.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs are included.
The one exception: a one-time model download
The first time the extension runs, it downloads the publicly available AI model Xenova/all-MiniLM-L6-v2 from Hugging Face's public model hub. This download contains no information about you or your browsing activity.
The model is then cached locally so embedding generation can take place on your device. Your browsing data is not sent to Hugging Face or any other third party for embedding generation. Everything else, including scraping, search, and storage, happens locally on your device.
How to delete your data
Click Clear History in the extension's side panel to permanently delete all saved browsing memory, or delete an individual saved page from its card.
You can also remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension via chrome://extensions.
Permissions this extension requests, and why

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised, and material changes will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing notes.
